More people are injured by hazardous manual tasks than by any other workplace hazard. Some injuries, known as musculoskeletal disorders, include: Manual material handling (MMH) is the process of moving and handling objects through a series of biomechanical functions including carrying, holding, lifting, pulling, pushing, and stooping on a regular basis. Many industries and occupations entail rigorous physical demands that contribute to the onset of musculoskeletal diseases. Material handling equipment is any tool used to aid in the movement, protection, storage, and control of materials and products. The equipment used to do so can be broken down into four main categories. Each category has a wide variety of useful equipment that makes safely moving heavy materials or large volumes of materials easier.
