Culturally responsive pedagogy is a student-centered approach to teaching in which the students' unique cultural strengths are identified and nurtured to promote student achievement and a sense of well-being about the student's cultural place in the world. Culturally responsive pedagogy is divided into three functional dimensions: the Culturally Responsive Teaching is a pedagogy that recognizes the importance of meeting students where they are culturally and linguistically. It puts students at the center of instruction that validates and affirms students' identities and gives students from historically marginalized communities an equitable education experience. The components of culturally responsive instruction can be addressed within practices many teachers already use while implementing core reading programs (i.e. demonstrating care for students, incorporating opportunities for student collaboration, and strategically using instructional techniques to elicit better engagement). There are many benefits associated with culturally responsive teaching: It raises children's expectations of the real world. It helps schools better meet their students' needs. It builds cultural competence in the classroom and beyond. It helps students feel empowered. It creates a more level educational experience. Education experts are steering teachers toward practices which make meaningful connections to the diverse backgrounds of their students while emphasizing a rigorous curriculum and high expectations for achievement. This approach is sometimes referred to as "culturally responsive instruction" (McIntyre et al. 2009). Teachers should consider The educator then is able to identify the student's competencies and plan for the kind of responsive teaching that leads each child forward. In this way, responsive teaching and differentiated instruction go hand-in-hand. Research shows that teachers must continuously observe and assess reading behaviors to identify areas of difficulty and Culturally Responsive Instruction. Culturally responsive instruction is a pedagogy that recognizes the importance of including students cultural references in all aspects of learning ( Ladson-Billings, 1994). It is important for teachers to recognize that they bring a specific culture into the classroom as do their students. In the discussion The term culturally responsive instruction has been used for a couple of decades but is getting more attention in recent years. With our classrooms growing more and more diverse every year, teachers are interested in how they can best teach students from different backgrounds.
