The lateral edges of the neural plate then rise to form neural folds. The neural folds move towards each other and meet in the midline, fusing to form the neural tube (precusor to the brain and spinal cord). During fusion of the neural folds, some cells within the folds migrate to form a distinct cell population - known as the neural crest filexlib. Central nervous system (CNS) embryology is complex, and below is a brief summary of its development. The early CNS begins as a simple neural plate that folds to form a groove then tube, open initially at each end. Within the neural tube stem cells generate the two major classes of cells that make the majority of the nervous system - neurons and Langman's embryology 12th edition. Sakeena Batool. Neurogenesis in the spinal cord. Patterning of the developing spinal cord begins at neural plate stages of development via inductive interactions that create organizing centers at the dorsal and ventral poles of the neural tube (Fig.1B, Floor plate, Roof plate) (Jessell, 2000).These specialized neuroepithelial cells generate signals that induce, often in a concentration-dependent manner, the

Neuroblastoma (NB) is an aggressive pediatric cancer that originates from neural crest tissues of the sympathetic nervous system. NB is highly heterogeneous both from a clinical and a molecular perspective. Clinically, this cancer represents a wide range of phenotypes ranging from spontaneous regres …
