The Mamiya Press Universal is big, weighty and boxy. But this beautiful camera is quite possibly the best medium format camera you can find! All functions are 100% manual. There are a few lenses available for this model camera, the one that came with it was a 100mm 3.5 Mamiya Sekor (shutter speed's from 500-B) but there are 50 mm, 75 mm The pictured lens is an improved version of the original, chrome-faced 100mm f/3.5. The Super 23 is a more refined version of the original Mamiya Press. The Mamiya Press has a more industrial and functional appearance than the Super 23, which I believe has a greater emphasis on aesthetics and appearance. These cameras were designed to be more compact and in many respects more versatile than the bellows type 4x5 and 2x3 press cameras of that era, such as the Speed Graphic, Busch Pressman, and Linhof Technica. The Universal Press does not have this feature, and the lens Mamiya intended as the standard lens on this camera was the 100/2.8, which does not have a retractable mount. There may also have been some 100/3.5's made without a retractable mount, but I've never seen or heard of one.
