I want to publish a Word document containing high resolution images (300+ dpi) as a PDF, preserving image quality. I use Insert - Picture in Word 2010 to embed my images from TIFF files. I then print the document with the "Adobe PDF" printer included with Acrobat X. No matter what settings I choose in the Adobe PDF printer driver, the images in the resulting PDF are downsampled to screen I'm trying to insert a PDF into a document in Word 2013, to be displayed as the entire page. I've done this many times and had no trouble, but all of a sudden, whenever I try to insert a PDF as I've always done, it is only ever inserted as an icon. I keep retrying, checking the settings every time to make sure nothing is checked that should not be, and the PDF keeps being inserted as an icon While using Microsoft Word, follow these steps: Open the Word document you want to attach the PDF to. Click Insert > Object > Create from file. Browse for the PDF you want. Check Display as Icon and uncheck Link to File. Click OK. The PDF will attach directly to the Word document wherever you have your cursor. I could not get a crisp image from Word when saving as a PDF. I tried PNG, WMF, messing with the compression options and nothing was working. On a whim, I saved the logo from Illustrator as an SVG file, inserted it into Word and it looked great. Did a File > Save As PDF and it still looked great. Hope this helps! If it's still blurry, you have an image with a low resolution. Not much you can do with that other than make it smaller in Word. 1. Copy the image from your PDF into word. 2. Right-click on the image and select 'Edit Image' (this may ask if you want a drawing canvas -> yes) 3. Hopefully now you should be admiring a 'crisp' image! In Word, click File, Options. Click Advanced, scroll down to Image Size and Quality. Turn off Discard editing data. Select Do not compress images in file. Select Set default target output to 220 ppi. Save the changes. Change PDF Optimize Settings You can also change the PDF optimization settings. Open Word and place the cursor where you want the PDF inserted as an object. Click the Insert tab on the menu bar. In the Text group, click on Object. In the Object dialog box, click the Create from File tab Click Browse to locate the PDF file you want to insert. Click OK to embed the PDF into the Word document.
