I just bought a MKIII 22/45 with a 4 3/4" tapered barrel and fixed sights (rear sight drift You have to insert and remove an empty magazine as part of the disassembly procedure. Then you have to remove it again to separate the barreled receiver from the grip/frame. During the reassembly it goes back in first after the barrel bolt is replaced, for a hammer setting and stays there until half way through the mainspring housing going back in. Yesterday bought a stainless Ruger MK III target, it took me 5 hours, a dremel tool, and sand paper to put back together for just field stripping. It takes me 30 seconds to disassemble my MkIII 22/45 and about 5 min or less to reassemble. It's really a good gun, but you have to be specific with the reassembly steps. Mostly it's a matter of getting the hammer in the proper location during the reassembly process. Once you get it down, you'll love it. These pistols are often ignored due to their infamously difficult reassembly. In this video we will demonstrate a step-by-step process to disassemble and reassemble this pistol without the nightmares. (I will show reassembling the action in just 16 seconds!) It's a thorough video which does a good job of showing what you do — and equally "RUGER" is a registered U.S. trademark. "22/45" and "Mark III" are Sturm, Ruger Trademarks.
