The manual is specific and when it says 22/45 do this then do it. It's really a good gun, but you have to be specific with the reassembly steps. Mostly it's a matter of getting the hammer in the proper location during the reassembly process. Once you get it down, you'll love it. Yesterday bought a stainless Ruger MK III target, it took me 5 hours, a dremel tool, and sand paper to put back together for just field stripping. It takes me 30 seconds to disassemble my MkIII 22/45 and about 5 min or less to reassemble.
